About Kathleen

My spiritual journey began with a spontaneous awakening to the nondual nature of reality, a remembrance of the oneness of life. With no background in spiritual matters like this, it was quite a shock. This glimpse ‘beyond the veil’ radically transformed my perception of reality. It was so amazing to realize that the belief in separation, the most deeply ingrained belief in this reality, isn’t really true.

Fortunately, I had just met a spiritual teacher who ended up being a mentor for several years. He introduced me to the path of Yoga, which helped me to navigate this new terrain.

Though it was an awakening to the timeless dimension, in the world of time it was 1978. I was living in Beverly Hills, California, and working at a television production company. It felt like something was missing in my life. I was beginning to feel a longing to connect with my spiritual nature.

The awakening was the beginning of a process of healing and transformation. Though I had a deep knowing of essential nature, I felt caught in conditioned patterns. Besides my first teacher, I’ve been blessed with teachers from various traditions including Advaita Vedanta, Zen, and Kashmiri Shaivism. Their presence and teachings have helped unravel the knots of conditioning. I offer a deep bow of gratitude to all of them, especially Richard Miller, Ph.D. and Adyashanti, with whom I studied for years.

In the early phase of my journey, I was very oriented towards the transcendent aspect of reality. I experienced deep states of bliss in meditation. I liked being “up and out” of the relative reality whenever possible. As the process of integration has continued, I have landed more fully in the ‘here and now,’ learning to embrace my human nature. The essence of nonduality is that there are ‘not two.’ We are human and divine. Our formless nature infuses our human nature.

The process of self-discovery is endless. As the saying goes, we’re “always being, always becoming.” In our essential nature, we’re already whole. In our human nature, we’re forever evolving. It is my pleasure to work with fellow travelers on this sacred journey of remembrance. I offer spiritual mentoring and group meetings to facilitate healing, awakening and transformation.
